Description

This vinegar based barbecue sauce is tangy, spicy, and perfect for grilled chicken or any smoky BBQ dish. Inspired by Carolina-style tradition, it’s bold, simple, and quick to make.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup cider vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, combine cider vinegar, brown sugar, kosher salt, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper.

2. Stir until sugar and salt dissolve completely.

3. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 4 to 8 hours.

4. Shake or stir before serving. Refrigerate leftovers up to 3 weeks.

Notes

Use apple cider vinegar, not white vinegar, for a softer flavor.

Adjust spice to your heat preference.

Perfect for grilled chicken or coleslaw dressing.
