The manner in which people relate themselves to the things they use on a daily basis is called consumer psychology. In this theory studies the manner in which a person behaves when he decides to buy a particular product. It is also called consumer behavior and it deals with all the factors that lead a consumer to buy a particular product such as product value and influence of advertising.

Consumer psychology helps explain the mannerisms of a consumer’s behavior and predicts the way in which a consumer will make his decisions. Many of the theories of this stream of psychology are influenced by advertising, marketing, economics, social and cognitive psychology. After all if the consumer is understood, the demand/supply flow can be better strategized. People who specialize in this field are researchers, educators, consultants and make policies. Graduates in this field are likely to get a job in advertising, in firms that do research on human behavior, or in government institutions study consumer behavior.

A degree in management or marketing may be needed in order to get more advanced jobs. For someone who is pursuing this career a normal day at work will involve meeting a number of people and trying to apply certain skills to solve problems and to find solutions. The main work involved in this job is to think, analyze data, preparing research reports and to meet a number of people.

A job in consumer psychology and business involves analyzing data, preparing research reports, and working with people. The job profile is extensive but satiating both monetarily as well as vocationally. The options and scope for taking skill and training/qualifications further are many. Branches of Forensic Psychology

Forensic psychology involves applying psychological opinions in a way that influences people’s decisions. Sometimes we think it is only applicable in criminal cases but in areas like insurance claims where emotional suffering is part of the claim,it becomes relevant. In short , this field is very wide and requires many experts to handle the numerous cases from old and young people of all gender.

To address all issues, there are sub branches of forensic psychology that allow you to specialize in your area of interest. First you have to attain the credentials to work as a forensic psychologist and be involved in the fieldwork to know the area you fit best. Clinical-forensic psychology is a subfield that caters for clients who have mental issues and their issues are of importance to legal decision making.

There are cases where the defendants are underage or elderly. In this area developmental psychology is applied to help in policy making. Before the court gives the final decision, there are jurors who listen to the case and arrive at a common decision. Social psychology subfield looks at how these jurors interact and arrive at a unanimous decision. These branches of forensic psychology allow the psychologists to work together with other people from different fields.

Other branches of forensic psychology are cognitive psychology that looks more at how people make decisions in legal cases. Criminal Investigative psychology deals with police psychology, criminal profiling and psychology autopsies. Forensic psychologists are trained to work as a team to come up with lasting solutions.
